CP Presentation Book SPREAD 2

This is a sample of my graphic design/art direction work, its a presentation book for a proposed business building. I worked off of the architects AutoCad roughs and final images and used plans as a basis for some of the graphic work.

I also took subliminal cues from Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon graphic design, in which you'll see photos of buildings reflecting the project logo's diamond shape. The architect is a real talented guy, he took his inspiration from a cobra for the building design, which in a way also has a diamond feel to that animal. Pretty cool huh!

At the initial stages I stumbled upon some early raw architectural 3D renderings that the project manager had lying around her desk. I used those as almost iconographic elements for the top page headers. I was basically inspired by those and I instantly saw the design and layout and overall look in my mind for the project. I decided on a cool business, modern, yet interesting look for the book using variants of Helvetica Neue. I kept the type interesting because usually Helvetica is used in a drab dull simplistic way. I love type but don't abuse with it.

If I hadnt stumbled on those printout simplistic 3D images, I wouldnt probably had done this so quickly, but I run with ideas and build them in my mind and they just gush out. Thats when computer/software skills come in handy to deal with the speed of ideas flowing out.

The logo was already designed but I further enhanced it, sharpened it up a bit and added a few more elements. The previous designer was a rush-sleepless-designer who when you looked at his work from far away without much thought, it was great, but once you came in for a closer look there was so many errors and skips. Quality was dire.

I believe you can fight for and actually do great work and have great quality. It should be near flawless, even under deadlines, no debate.

The presentation book was about a hundred pages, I designed in about a week without breaking a sweat, even though everyone else was always panicked and running around in a frenzy. I dont understand that sort of work behaviour to tell you the truth.

I'd show the whole book but it is protected under copyright and can only show just a few sample pages. Graphically, the work was all me except of course the architectural design work and imagery and the copy and company logo.
